OUTWARD BOUND MONACO AWARDS CEREMONY
On Wednesday 19 December, 31 students from the Cote d’Azur who participated this summer in Outward Bound programmes in Ullswater (the English Lake District) and Aberdovey (North Wales) were reunited for the prestigious Outward Bound Monaco annual awards ceremony in the beautiful location of the Yacht Club de Monaco. The event was kindly sponsored by Galeforce Computing of Monaco, represented on the evening by Basil Nalbantis.
Surrounded by friends, patrons and members of Outward Bound Monaco and their parents, the proud students received their diplomas from the Patron of Outward Bound Monaco, H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco, who praised their courage and resourcefulness in the face of the challenges that an Outward Bound programme offers.
Michael Peagram, President of Outward Bound Monaco commented,
“The testimonies we hear at our Awards evening confirm the huge positive contribution that partaking in Outward Bound courses makes to the development of young people’s lives. I thank all our supporters and helpers who make this possible, and also our patron H.S.H. Prince Albert of Monaco for yet again finding the time to meet them and present their certificates”.
The evening was full of pride and excitement for the students, aged 11 to 17 years old, who gave time, energy and passion this summer to try something which pushed back their personal barriers and rewarded them with the sense of achievement at overcoming new challenges, as well as having great fun!
15 year old Becky Curtis from Briancon in the Hautes-Alpes said of her Outward Bound fortnight in the Lake District and North Wales 'An adventurous and fun experience with skills learning as part of a group, and as an individual. I loved it!'
